Supervision & Sanction fees

Supervision Fees

A supervision fee must be paid in advance by the licence or permit holder for the fee period (usually 12 months).

An invoice is sent before each new period with payment instructions. Once paid, the fee is non-refundable, regardless of the reason. Payment must be made in Swedish kronor.

Supervision fees are regulated in SIFS 2024:4 (Swedish) and Chapter 15, Section 5 of the Gambling Ordinance (2018:1475). (Swedish)

Payment of Sanction Fees

If a licence or permit holder is issued a sanction fee, it must be paid to the Swedish Gambling Authority (Spelinspektionen) within 30 days of the decision gaining legal force, or within the time specified in the decision. An invoice with payment details will be sent by Spelinspektionen, and payment must always be made in Swedish kronor.

Sanction fees are paid to Spelinspektionen but accrue to the state.

If the fee is not paid on time, it will be transferred to the Swedish Enforcement Authority (Kronofogden) for collection, in accordance with the Act (1993:891) on Recovery of State Claims, etc.

For more information on interventions and sanctions, see Chapter 18, Section 12, and Chapter 19, Section 17 of the Gambling Act (2018:1138).
